Instructions

This activity will consist of five simple drills that you can use to improve your football skills!

Drill #1: Think Fast!

For this drill you will need a partner and three small objects that are similar in size but different from one another.  Start by having your partner toss all three of the objects to you.  After they have tossed the objects, they must shout out the name of only ONE object.  It is your job to catch the object that they shouted out.  An example of this activity can be seen below.

Drill #2: High Point Catching

Have your partner throw a football a couple of feet above your head.  Jump as high as you can and catch the ball while you’re in the air.

Drill #3: 4 Route / Curl

This drill consists of running a curl route.  Both partners should line up with each other and face in the same direction.  One player will start with the ball and play as the quarterback (QB).  The other player will play as the wide receiver (WR) and start in a “ready” position.  To get into the “ready” position, the wide receiver must stand with knees slightly bent.  The foot that is closer to the quarterback should be about a foot and a half in front of the foot that is closest to the sidelines.  The wide receiver will then run approximately 8-10 feet, plant their outside foot, cut inside, and then run back towards the quarterback where they will be met by a pass.

Drill #4: 6 Route / Dig

This drill consists of running a dig route. The wide receiver will run approximately 6-8 feet, plant their inside foot, and cut outside where they will be met by a pass.

Cool Down

Find a seat on the floor or on a couch or chair. Make sure your back is nice and straight. Close your eyes with your hands on your lap. Take 10 deep breaths. Repeat if needed. You’re all done! Great job! Make sure you drink some water with a healthy snack!
