Enjoy this sweet summer! Learn how to make ice cream without an ice cream maker, just ice and half & half and some sugar.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of half and half
- 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 3 cups of ice
- 1/3 cup of kosher salt
- One small and one large resealable bag
- Optional toppings such as whipped cream, sprinkles, or cherries
- Bowl and spoon
Steps:
1. In your small resealable bag add 1 cup of half and half
2. Add 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
3. Add ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract. You can also try different extract flavors such as strawberry or lemon
4. Seal your small bag tightly with all the air released
5. In your large resealable bag add 3 cups of ice
6. Add 1/3 cup of kosher salt
7. Place your small bag inside your larger bag, remove all the air and seal tightly
8. Shake your bags for about ten minutes until you form ice cream. You may want to use a towel to protect your hands from the cold or take turns shaking with family and friends.

Once your ice cream is ready, scoop it into your bowl, optionally add toppings, and enjoy!
