Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 500℉.
- Pour 1 ⅓ cups of water into a microwave-safe container and heat the water in the microwave for 30-45 seconds. The water should be warm to the touch, but not so hot that it burns your finger.
- Pour 3 teaspoons of cane sugar into the water.
- Pour 1 package of instant yeast into the sugar-water mixture. Stir gently and let this mixture sit for 5-10 minutes until the yeast is activated. The yeast will bubble up to the top of the mixture when it has been activated.
- Mix 3 ½ cups all purpose flour and 1 tablespoon of salt together in a large bowl.
- Once the yeast has been activated, pour the liquid mixture and 3 tablespoons of olive oil into the large bowl of flour and salt. Stir with a fork until the mixture starts to clump together. Once it has clumped together, begin kneading/mixing the dough with your hands. Mold the dough into a large circular shape.
Tip: If the dough is too wet after mixing all of the ingredients together, add flour and continue kneading. If the dough is too dry after mixing, add water and continue kneading. The dough should be smooth and tacky.
- Rub a very light amount of olive oil onto the outside of the dough, and let the dough rest in a covered container for as little as 30 minutes or as much as a day!
- Once the dough has rested for at least 30 minutes you will notice that it has begun to rise and expand. You can cut up the dough into sections if you would like to make multiple, small pizzas. Using a pizza roller, long cup, or your hands, roll out the dough into the shape of your choice on top of a piece of parchment paper sprinkled with flour.
- Add toppings to the pizza(s) as desired.
- Place the pizza onto a baking pan and bake in the oven for 5-10 minutes, watching carefully. The pizza will be ready when the crust is medium-dark brown and the cheese has melted entirely.
- Cut into slices using a pizza cutter and enjoy!
