Celebrate Strawberry Month by making this delicious bread!
Materials:
Bread:
- ¾ cup of sugar
- ½ cup of milk
- ½ cup of oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 2 cups of flour
- 2 teaspoons of baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
- 2 cups of diced strawberries
- 2 tablespoons of flour
Glaze:
- 2 cups of powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons of melted butter
- 1/3 cup of diced strawberries
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons of heavy cream or milk
Steps:
1. In a large bowl add ¾ cup of sugar
2. Add ½ cup of milk
3. Add ½ cup of oil
4. Add 1 egg
5. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla
6. Mix together
7. In a separate bowl mix the dry ingredients. Add 2 cups of flour
8. Add 2 teaspoons of baking soda
9. Add ¼ teaspoon of salt
10. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients
11. Mix together
12. In a separate bowl add 2 cups of diced strawberries
13. Add 2 tablespoons of flour to the strawberries
14. Gently toss the strawberries in the flour to coat them
15. Gently fold the strawberries into the batter
16. Add the batter into a greased bread pan or a baking dish around 9×5
17. Bake the bread batter at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean
18. After you take the bread out of the oven, start working on your glaze as it cools. The glaze is optional but adds a sweeter taste
19. For the glaze take a bowl and add 2 cups of powdered sugar
20. Add 2 tablespoons of melted butter
21. Add 1/3 cup of diced strawberries
22. Add ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
23. Add 2 tablespoons of heavy cream
24. Mix your glaze. It may seem thick but the more you mix the more it thins out
25. Add your glaze to your bread
26. Optionally add toppings like extra strawberries
