Personalize your reading by creating your own beaded bookmark! Show us your bookmarks in the comments below, we would love to see them.

Materials:

  1. Ruler
  2. String (or elastic)
  3. Scissors
  4. Beads of your choice

(you will also need your book to measure out the size of your bookmark)

Step 1: Measure out the elastic to the size of your book and leave around eight inches past the bottom of the book and three inches past the top.

Step 2: Tie a knot to mark where the top of your book ends. (this separates the part of the string that will be inside your book when you close it, and the part that will hang outside of it. Tie another knot to separate the string that goes inside the book to the 8 inches that hang outside of the bottom of the book.

Step 3: Add beads to the string at the top (or just leave one as I did here) and tie a knot at the top where your beads end. Cut off the excess.

Step 4: Next, slide in beads from the bottom of your string to meet the knot you made that separated the 8 inches of string from the middle portion of the string. Tie a knot when finished. Curt off the excess.

Step 5: You are now done, You can even use your bookmark “backwards” and have the longer beaded part at the top instead of the bottom.

Enjoy!
