If you have a potted plant and you’d like to hang it up somewhere, here’s an easy way to make a macramé plant hanger yourself! Show us yours in the comments below.

Materials:

  • Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Your potted plant

Step 1: You can use any colored yarn you want, but you need 8 pieces of the exact same length. I am using two colors, four of each color. The length of your yarn can depend on the size of your pot, or how long you’d like your hanger to be. My yarn is about ten times the size of my plant.

Step 2: Gather all the yarn pieces together and tie a knot at the very top. The excess string will be the bottom “tassle” of your plant hanger.

Step 3: Place the knot over your pot and measure where your first knots will be. Make sure it’s about halfway from the bottom of your pot. Tie your four sets of two strings together. Make sure all the knots line up well.

Step 4: Now measure out where the top of your pot lands on your strings and tie one string from one set of knots, to another string from the knot next to it. Make sure to repeat this, so you have four more knots above the original four. Line these up well too.

Step 5: Now you can slip your pot into the opening between the knots. Tie a knot inches from the very top of all your strings. Then tie a final knot with a loop left to hang it from wherever you’d like. You’re done!
